The Wood Duck> male is one of North America’s most colorful waterfowl, featuring an iridescent green and purple head, bright red eyes, a chestnut breast, and intricate white markings. Found across wooded wetlands in North America, it nests in tree cavities. A well-known fact: ducklings leap from the nest shortly after hatching. Fun fact: they can cling to bark with strong claws.
