The Red-tailed Hawk is a large raptor with a rich brown body, pale underside, and a distinctive brick-red tail. It is commonly found across North America in open fields, deserts, and woodlands. A well-known fact is its piercing, raspy scream often used in movies for “eagle” sounds. Fun fact: some individuals can see prey from over 100 feet above.
