The Dodo was a flightless bird native to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It had a large body covered in greyish-brown feathers, with a distinctively stout beak. The Dodo became extinct in the late 17th century due to habitat destruction and hunting by humans. A commonly known fact about the Dodo is that it is often cited as an example of human-induced extinction. A fun fact about the Dodo is that despite its reputation for clumsiness, recent research suggests it may have been more agile and capable of more complex behaviors than previously thought.
