Common Loon

The common loon, known for its striking black-and-white plumage and ruby-red eyes, thrives in the freshwater lakes of North America, particularly in Canada and the northern United States. Recognized for its haunting calls, loons are expert divers, capable of plunging deep underwater to catch fish. Fun fact: loons have solid bones, making them less buoyant and better divers.
