The Sooty-capped Hermit is a small hummingbird native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. It has iridescent green plumage with a distinctive black cap on its head. These birds are known for their solitary nature and their ability to hover while feeding on nectar from flowers. A fun fact about Sooty-capped Hermits is that they are one of the few hummingbird species known to use spider silk to construct their nests.
