Cicada
The cicada is a fascinating insect known for its striking appearance and loud, buzzing calls. Found on every continent except Antarctica, cicadas are especially common in warm, temperate regions. They typically have translucent wings, large eyes, and earthy-toned bodies ranging from green to brown. A commonly known fact is that some cicada species have synchronized life cycles, emerging in massive broods every 13 or 17 years. A fun fact: cicadas have one of the loudest insect calls, with some species reaching up to 100 decibels - comparable to a chainsaw!
